Adding Objects

Add groups of objects together up to 10

What is Addition?

Addition means putting things together to find out how many there are in total. When we add, we get more! The special sign for addition is + (plus).
Example

Adding with Objects

🍎🍎 + 🍎🍎🍎 = 🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎 2 apples + 3 apples = 5 apples! 🐱 + 🐱🐱 = 🐱🐱🐱 1 cat + 2 cats = 3 cats!
Example

Adding on Your Fingers

Hold up 3 fingers on one hand. Hold up 2 fingers on the other hand. Count all your fingers together: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. So 3 + 2 = 5!
Note

Remember

Addition means 'putting together' or 'joining'. The + sign means 'plus' or 'and'. The = sign means 'equals' or 'makes'. When we add, the answer is always bigger than the numbers we started with!
