Transactional Writing in Grade 8

Grade 8 transactional texts include friendly letters, diary entries, and dialogues. Each has a specific format and register (level of formality). Marks are awarded for format, content, language, and tone. An incorrect format loses marks immediately.
Example

Diary Entry Example

Thursday, 15 May 2026 Dear Diary, I cannot believe what happened today. During the science fair, my volcano experiment actually erupted perfectly! Mrs Nkosi was so impressed that she awarded me first place. I felt a surge of pride — all those late nights of preparation paid off. I wish Gogo could have been there to see it. Exhausted but happy, Zinhle
Note
