Descriptive, Narrative, and Reflective Essays

Grade 8 creative writing includes three types: descriptive (creating vivid images), narrative (telling a story with conflict and resolution), and reflective (exploring a personal experience and what you learned). Each requires different skills but all demand rich vocabulary and literary devices.
Example

Reflective Essay Extract

'The moment I heard the results, my heart sank. I had failed the test I had studied so hard for. At first, I felt angry — at the teacher, at the test, at myself. But looking back, that failure taught me something invaluable: that success is not about never falling, but about getting up every time you do.' This shows personal experience, emotion, and a lesson learned.
