Staging a Performance for an Audience

A full theatre performance brings together all elements: acting, set, costumes, lighting, sound and stage management. Performers must be rehearsed, professional and present. The audience experience matters — from the moment they arrive to the final bow.
Example

Performance Checklist

Pre-show: set ready, props in place, costumes on, warm-up done During: stay in character, project voice, react authentically, stay focused Technical: light cues, sound cues, set changes on time Post-show: bow, thank audience, strike (pack up) set Performance anxiety tips: breathe deeply, warm up physically, focus outward on the story (not inward on fear)
Note

Remember

Every performance is live — things can go wrong. The show must go on! If you forget a line, stay in character and improvise. If a prop breaks, adapt. Professional actors handle mistakes without breaking character. The audience often won't notice!
