Comprehension Skills

Grade 7 comprehension tests your ability to read and understand different text types: stories, articles, poems, and visual texts. You must answer literal questions (find in the text), inferential questions (work it out), and evaluative questions (give your opinion with reasons).

Read the questions first so you know what to look for. Then read the text carefully. Answer in full sentences unless told otherwise. Quote from the text when required — use quotation marks. Check the mark allocation and give enough detail.
