Oral Communication Skills

Grade 7 oral tasks include prepared reading, unprepared reading, group discussions, and speeches. These tasks develop your ability to communicate clearly, listen actively, and express your ideas with confidence in front of others.
Example

Prepared Reading Tips

For a prepared reading task: 1. Read the text several times at home. 2. Mark words you need to look up. 3. Note where to pause (commas, full stops). 4. Practise reading with expression — change your voice for dialogue. 5. Time yourself to ensure the right pace. 6. On the day, hold the text at a comfortable height and make eye contact.
Note

Group Discussion Guidelines

Listen to others without interrupting. Build on what others say: 'I agree with Siya because...' or 'I have a different view because...'. Stay on topic. Give everyone a chance to speak. Use formal language, not slang.
