Learn strategies for resolving conflicts peacefully

Resolving Conflicts Peacefully

Conflict happens when people disagree. It is a normal part of life, but how we handle conflict matters. Violence, shouting, and name-calling make things worse. Peaceful conflict resolution means finding a solution that both sides can accept.
Example

Steps to Resolve a Conflict

Step 1: Cool down — take deep breaths. Step 2: Talk and listen — each person explains their side without interrupting. Step 3: Find common ground. Step 4: Agree on a solution — compromise so both sides give a little. Step 5: Follow through.
Note

Remember

If you cannot solve a conflict on your own, ask a teacher or trusted adult to mediate. In South Africa, we value ubuntu — resolving problems through dialogue and mutual respect.

Key Vocabulary

ConflictA disagreement or argument between people
