Nutrition & Hygiene

Understand balanced nutrition and personal hygiene

Nutrition and Hygiene

Good nutrition means eating a variety of foods that give your body everything it needs. The food pyramid shows us how much of each food group to eat. Hygiene means keeping your body and surroundings clean to prevent illness.
Example

The Food Groups

Carbohydrates (pap, bread, rice) give energy. Proteins (meat, beans, eggs) build muscles. Vitamins and minerals (fruit, vegetables) keep you healthy. Dairy (milk, cheese) makes bones strong. Fats and oils (in small amounts) give extra energy.
Note

Remember

Wash your hands before eating and after using the toilet. Drink at least six glasses of water a day. A balanced meal has foods from different food groups on one plate.
