Oral Presentation

Prepare and deliver a short speech or presentation

What is an Oral Presentation?

An oral presentation is when you speak in front of others to share information or tell a story. You might talk about your hobby, a book you read or an interesting animal.

How to Prepare

1. Choose your topic. 2. Research and write notes on cue cards — do not write every word! 3. Organise your talk: introduction, body (2–3 main points), conclusion. 4. Practise in front of a mirror or family member. 5. Prepare a visual aid like a poster or object to show.
Example

Sample Introduction

'Good morning, everyone. Today I am going to tell you about the African penguin, which lives along the coast of South Africa. Did you know there are penguins at Boulders Beach in Simon's Town?'
Note

Tips for Success

Speak clearly and not too fast. Make eye contact with your audience. Stand up straight. Don't just read — look up and talk to your listeners. It's okay to feel nervous — take a deep breath!
