Creative Writing
Write narratives with a beginning, middle and end
What is Creative Writing?
Creative writing is when we use our imagination to write stories, diary entries or descriptions. A good story has a beginning (introduction), a middle (problem or events) and an end (resolution).
Example
Story Plan
Title: The Day I Found a Treasure Map
Beginning: I was playing in my grandmother's garden in Limpopo when I found an old piece of paper.
Middle: The map showed a path to a tree near the river. I followed it and had to cross a wobbly bridge!
End: Under the tree I found a box filled with old coins and a letter from my great-grandfather.
Making Your Writing Interesting
Use adjectives to paint a picture: 'the dark, spooky forest'. Use dialogue so your characters talk: '"Let's go!" shouted Sipho.' Use different sentence lengths to keep the reader interested.
Note
Remember
Plan before you write. Check your spelling and punctuation. Read your story out loud — does it make sense? Always write a title for your story.
