Materials Around Us

Everything around us is made of materials. Materials can be natural (from nature) like wood, cotton, and stone, or manufactured (made by people) like plastic, glass, and metal. Different materials have different properties.
Example

Properties of Materials

Wood is hard and strong — we use it for furniture. Glass is transparent — we can see through windows. Rubber is flexible — it stretches and bounces. Metal is strong and shiny — we use it for pots and tools.
Note

Remember

We choose materials based on their properties. A raincoat is made of waterproof material so you stay dry. A blanket is made of soft, warm material to keep you cosy.
