Water Safety

Understand water safety rules and practices

Staying Safe Around Water

Water can be fun but also dangerous. Swimming pools, rivers, dams, and the sea all need special care. Children must never swim alone — always have an adult watching.
Example

Water Safety Rules

Never go near a pool, river, or dam without an adult. Do not push or pull others near water. If you cannot swim, stay in the shallow end. If you see someone in trouble in water, do not jump in — call an adult for help.
Note

Remember

Learning to swim is an important life skill. If you get the chance to take swimming lessons, it will help keep you safe around water.
