Recycling

Learn about recycling and caring for the environment

What Is Recycling?

Recycling means using old things to make new things instead of throwing them away. Paper, glass, plastic, and metal can all be recycled. When we recycle, we make less rubbish and help keep our environment clean.
Example

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Reduce: Use less — take a reusable water bottle to school. Reuse: Use again — turn an old ice cream tub into a pencil holder. Recycle: Put plastic, paper, and cans in the recycling bin.
Note

Remember

Litter hurts animals and makes our neighbourhoods dirty. Always put rubbish in a bin. In South Africa, many people collect recyclables to earn money — recycling helps people and the planet.
