Building Sentences

Construct simple and compound sentences

Building Better Sentences

A simple sentence tells us one thing: 'The dog runs.' We can make sentences longer by adding more details: 'The big brown dog runs in the park.' Adding words makes our writing more interesting! ✏️
Example

Making Sentences Grow

Short: 'I ate food.' Longer: 'I ate rice and chicken.' Even longer: 'I ate rice and chicken for supper.' We can also join sentences with 'and': 'I like apples and I like bananas.' 🍎🍌
Note

Remember

Every sentence needs a capital letter at the start and a full stop, question mark, or exclamation mark at the end. Add describing words to make sentences more interesting! 🌈
