What are Letter Sounds?

Every letter has a special sound! 🔤 The letter 's' makes a sss sound like a snake 🐍. The letter 'a' makes an aaa sound like when we open wide at the doctor.

🐍 s — sss (like a snake) 🍎 a — aaa (like apple) ✋ t — t-t-t (like tapping) 👁️ i — iii (like igloo) 🏠 p — p-p-p (like popping) 🥜 n — nnn (like humming)

Putting Sounds Together

When we know letter sounds, we can put them together to make words! s-a-t makes 'sat'. p-i-n makes 'pin'. This is called blending. 🎶

Say each sound slowly, then say them faster and faster until you hear the word. Practice your sounds every day! 🌟
