Listening & Speaking

Listen to stories and respond to simple questions

What is Listening?

Listening means using our ears 👂 to hear what someone is saying. When we listen carefully, we can understand stories, songs and what our friends tell us.
Example

Let's Listen!

Your teacher reads a story about a little tortoise 🐢. Listen carefully! Now answer: What animal was in the story? Where did the tortoise go? Was the tortoise happy or sad?

What is Speaking?

Speaking is when we use our mouth and voice to share ideas, tell stories and talk to friends. We can also use signs to speak! 🤟 We take turns: one person speaks, the other listens.
Note

Remember

Good listeners look at the person speaking 👀, keep their bodies still, and wait for their turn to talk. Good speakers speak clearly so everyone can understand.
