Art Portfolio
Develop a collection of artworks showing growth
Building Your Art Portfolio
A portfolio is a curated collection of your best artworks showing your skills, development and range. It tells the story of your growth as an artist. A strong portfolio demonstrates technical skill, creativity, personal voice and experimentation with different media and subjects.
Example
Portfolio Contents
Include a variety:
• Observational drawings (still life, portraits)
• Creative/imaginative work (compositions, themes)
• Different media (pencil, paint, collage, digital)
• Development pages (showing process/thinking)
• Final pieces (polished, resolved artworks)
10-15 strong pieces are better than 30 average ones. Quality over quantity!
Note
Remember
Your portfolio represents YOU — make sure it shows your personal style and interests. Include process work (sketches, experiments) not just finals. If applying to art school, research what they want to see. Present work neatly — first impressions matter.
