Write well-structured paragraphs with topic sentences

Paragraph Structure

A well-structured paragraph has a topic sentence (the main idea), supporting sentences (details and examples), and a concluding sentence (wrapping up). All sentences in a paragraph must relate to the same topic.
Example

A Model Paragraph

Topic sentence: South Africa has many beautiful national parks. Supporting: The Kruger National Park is home to the Big Five. Table Mountain National Park has stunning views of Cape Town. The Drakensberg offers hiking and waterfalls. Concluding sentence: These parks are treasures that South Africans should protect.

Does your paragraph have: • A clear topic sentence at the start? • At least 3 supporting sentences with details? • A concluding sentence at the end? • All sentences about the same topic? If yes, you've written a great paragraph!
