Rights & Respect

Understand human rights and respect for others

Human Rights and Respect

Human rights are the basic freedoms and protections that every person deserves. The South African Bill of Rights says everyone has the right to equality, dignity, education, and safety. Respect means treating all people fairly, regardless of their differences.
Example

Rights in Action

At school, every learner has the right to learn in a safe environment. If someone speaks a different language, you must still treat them with respect. If someone has a disability, they deserve the same opportunities.
Note

Remember

Rights and responsibilities go together. You have the right to be respected, and the responsibility to respect others. When everyone respects each other, schools and communities become better places.
