Read and draw simple bar graphs

Bar Graphs 📊

A bar graph uses bars (rectangles) to show data. Taller bars mean bigger numbers. Bar graphs make it easy to compare different groups.
Example

Reading a Bar Graph

Favourite sport in class: ⚽ Soccer: ████████ (8 children) 🏀 Netball: █████ (5 children) 🏏 Cricket: ██████ (6 children) Most popular: Soccer (tallest bar) Least popular: Netball (shortest bar)
Example

Drawing a Bar Graph

Step 1: Collect data (ask a question) Step 2: Count the answers Step 3: Draw bars — one for each group Step 4: Make bars the right height Step 5: Label your bars and add a title!
Note

Remember 💡

All bars should be the same width. Leave a gap between bars. Always give your bar graph a title so people know what it shows!
