Road Safety

Learn basic road safety rules for pedestrians

Staying Safe on the Road

Roads can be dangerous because cars, taxis, and trucks move fast. We must always be careful near roads. Pedestrians are people who walk, and we need to follow safety rules to protect ourselves.
Example

Rules for Crossing the Road

Stop at the side of the road. Look left, look right, then look left again. Listen for cars. When the road is clear, walk quickly across — do not run. Use a pedestrian crossing or traffic light if there is one.
Note

Remember

Never play in the road. Always hold an adult's hand when crossing the street. If you walk to school, stay on the pavement and wear bright clothing so drivers can see you.
