Phonics & Word Building

Build and read three-letter words using phonics

Building Words with Phonics

Phonics helps us read! Every letter makes a sound. When we put sounds together, we make words. For example: c-a-t = cat 🐈. We blend the sounds together smoothly.
Example

Let's Build Words

Sound out these three-letter words: • d-o-g = dog 🐕 • s-u-n = sun ☀️ • p-i-n = pin 📌 • h-a-t = hat 🎩 Say each sound, then blend them together!
Note

Top Tip

Say each sound slowly first, then say the whole word faster. If you get stuck, start with the first sound and add one sound at a time. Practice makes perfect! ⭐
