Transport

Types of transport, road safety for pedestrians

How Do We Travel? 🚗

Transport is how we get from one place to another. We use different types of transport depending on where we want to go and how far it is.
Example

Types of Transport

🚗 Car — drives on the road 🚌 Bus and taxi — carries many people (like the minibus taxis in South Africa!) 🚂 Train — rides on rails (like the Gautrain!) ✈️ Aeroplane — flies in the sky 🚲 Bicycle — we pedal with our legs 🚶 Walking — using our feet 🚢 Boat — sails on the water

Road Safety for Pedestrians

When we walk near roads, we must be safe: 🚦 STOP at the robot (traffic light) — red means stop, green means go 👀 LOOK left, right, then left again before crossing 👂 LISTEN for cars 🚶 Use the pedestrian crossing (zebra crossing) when you can ✋ Hold a grown-up's hand when crossing the road
Note

Remember

Always wear a seatbelt in the car! 🔒 Never play near the road. In South Africa, we drive on the left side of the road 🇿🇦. Be safe!
