Functions of a Business
Every business has key functions that must work together: Marketing (attracting customers), Finance (managing money), Human Resources (managing people), Operations/Production (making goods or delivering services) and Administration (keeping things running smoothly).
Example
Business Functions in Practice
Example: Nando's restaurant
• Marketing: adverts, social media, loyalty programmes
• Finance: pricing, budgets, accounts, payments
• HR: hiring staff, training, scheduling shifts
• Operations: buying food, cooking, serving, cleaning
• Admin: bookings, stock ordering, compliance
All functions must work together like a team — one weak area affects everything.
Note
Remember
A business is like a machine with interconnected parts. If marketing brings customers but operations can't deliver quality, the business fails. If operations are excellent but finance is mismanaged, the business runs out of money. Balance all functions!
