Developing a Business Idea

A viable business idea solves a real problem or fills a genuine need. Entrepreneurs identify opportunities by observing their community, listening to complaints and noticing gaps in the market. The idea must be feasible (possible), profitable (can make money) and sustainable (can last).
Example

Finding Business Opportunities

Look for problems to solve: • Long queues at the tuck shop → start a delivery service • No affordable tutoring → offer homework help • Dirty cars → mobile car wash • Boring school events → entertainment/DJ service Test your idea: 1. Would people pay for this? 2. Can I afford to start? 3. Is anyone else doing it? 4. Can I do it well?
Note

Remember

The best business ideas come from real needs in your community. Talk to potential customers BEFORE starting — find out what they actually want and what they'd pay. SA needs entrepreneurs who solve local problems. Start small, learn fast and adapt.
