Drama Production

Plan and stage a short performance

Staging a Short Performance

A drama production involves planning, rehearsing and performing a play for an audience. Production elements include: acting, directing, set design, costumes, lighting, sound and stage management. Even a simple classroom performance needs planning and teamwork.
Example

Production Planning

Steps to stage a short play: 1. Choose or write a script 2. Cast roles (actors for each character) 3. Block the play (plan movements on stage) 4. Rehearse scenes repeatedly 5. Add simple set, props and costumes 6. Do a dress rehearsal (full run-through) 7. Perform for the audience! Roles: director, actors, stage manager, prop manager
Note

Remember

Theatre is teamwork — everyone contributes. Actors must project (speak loudly and clearly), face the audience, and stay in character. Practise until movements and words feel natural. Even small productions teach valuable life skills: planning, collaboration, discipline and confidence.
