A business provides goods or services to earn money (profit). Communities have many types: shops, restaurants, salons, garages, spaza shops, street vendors and services like plumbers. Businesses create jobs and provide things people need.

Retail (selling goods): supermarket, clothing shop, spaza shop
Food: restaurant, bakery, street food vendor
Services: salon, mechanic, taxi, clinic
Manufacturing: factory making clothes, food, furniture
Small businesses in SA: over 2 million! They create many jobs.

Businesses need customers to survive. They must provide good quality and fair prices. Many SA businesses start small (informal) and grow. Entrepreneurs are people who start businesses — they take risks but can create jobs and wealth for their communities.
