Visual Texts
Interpret and create simple visual texts
What are Visual Texts?
Visual texts use pictures, drawings, and words together to share a message. Posters, signs, labels, and picture stories are all visual texts. We 'read' the pictures and the words! 🖼️
Example
Reading a Poster
Look at a poster for a school concert:
🎵 Title: 'Spring Concert'
📅 Date: Friday 10 October
🏫 Place: School Hall
⏰ Time: 6 PM
The poster uses big words, colours, and pictures to tell us about the event!
Note
Tips
When looking at a visual text, ask: What do I see? What words are there? What is the message? You can also create your own poster about something important to you! 🎨
